West Kildonan Library Building Review
Consultation has concluded
The West Kildonan Library was built in 1967. Improvements are required so the library can continue to meet the community’s needs into the future.
The City is assessing the building to understand what improvements are needed and how much they will cost. It will look at:
- the site (including parking);
- the building condition;
- assessment of heritage elements;
- building code and accessibility compliance; and
- services and amenities.

We want to hear from you
Share We want to hear from you on Facebook Share We want to hear from you on Twitter Share We want to hear from you on Linkedin Email We want to hear from you linkThe City used feedback from stakeholders and a building assessment of the West Kildonan Library to come up with improvement options.
The City developed three options so that the library can continue to meet the community’s needs into the future.
- Option 1 includes improvements to meet building code and accessibility standards. The improvements will maintain existing programs and services.
- Option 2 includes the improvements captured in Option 1 and a small addition, new tutorial rooms, and a children's reading playground. It will allow for some additional programs and services.
- Option 3 the improvements captured in Option 1 and a large addition, new tutorial rooms, a meeting room, outdoor reading garden, and a relocated children's area. It will allow for additional programs and services.
We want your feedback on the improvement options. What we hear from residents will help the City refine the proposed options.
