We know that members of the francophone community cherish the buildings located at 219 Provencher Blvd. (Saint-Boniface City Hall) and 212 Dumoulin St. (Saint-Boniface Fire Hall No. 1). These buildings are symbols of francophone culture and history.

City offices are no longer needed in these buildings and we are asking the community to help determine their future.

    A Wonderful Gallery

by Charlotte Sigurdson, 11 months ago

La Maison des artistes is my absolute favourite gallery in the city, not only to show my work but also to see others. The building itself is the perfect place for art. Big windows, natural light, charm and character, do service to the work shown. The staff do a wonderful job curating shows. They attract notable artists while also showcasing emerging artists. La Maison has helped me launch my own artistic career and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities they’ve provided me. La Maison is a credit to the city of Winnipeg and plays an important role in... Continue reading

    Home for Artists

Showing the work of 11 local artists at the end of the pandemic was such an inspiring and meaningful endevour. The staff at the gallery were so welcoming and went out of their way to help with the instalation. People who came to the show admired the work but many of them commented on the quality of light from the large windows and the beautiful gallery space. As a gallery visitor I cherish the variety and inclusiveness that this gallery offers. It is sheer foolishness not to have this gathering space for artists on this side of the river.

As we work relentlessly to bring more foot trafic to St-Boniface, it's the... Continue reading

    Character and History

by sachawinter, about 1 year ago

As a resident of St Boniface, the two historic buildings that stand proudly within its bounds hold a special place in my heart. These architectural gems not only contribute to the character of our community but also serve as tangible links to our shared past. Their timeless designs and rich histories weave a narrative that enhances the overall ambiance of the area, making it a truly unique place to call home. The presence of these buildings fosters a sense of connection to the roots of our neighborhood, reminding us of the generations that have shaped it. In a world where... Continue reading

My friend and I live at opposite sides of Winnipeg and we love to meet in St Boniface for walks, talks, pastries and coffee. We have taken the St B. city tour together. This included both the city hall and the fire hall and the history that goes with them. Places like St Boniface are deeply connected to the roots of the local peoples. This makes them a very important part of our lives when we stop to enjoy and consider the indigenous folks and pioneers who built our home town.
