Introduction

The Crescentwood-Enderton Park neighbourhood has a unique history and an outstanding collection of heritage homes and buildings, many of which were built between 1900 and 1914. For years, area residents have been advocating for heritage conservation district (HCD) status. HCDs conserve areas of special architectural and historical significance and manage future changes within the district boundaries.

Background

There are three steps in the process of establishing a heritage conservation district:

  • Official nomination (this occurred on June 6, 2019)
  • Development of an HCD study.
  • Development of an HCD plan, which could lead to official designation.

The HCD plan was approved by City Council on March 23, 2023.
