The City of Winnipeg is exploring what a new outdoor aquatic park in St. Boniface could look like and where it could go. The project will help narrow down a potential location, design, and cost estimate. The City will seek input from residents on their future aquatic needs as part of the process.

Background:

  • Many of the existing pools in St. Boniface are reaching the end of their life
  • The Winnipeg Recreation Strategy recommends replacing aging facilities with new facilities to better meet Winnipeg’s current and future recreation needs
  • The Winnipeg Recreation Strategy also recommends investing in new, larger outdoor pools that serve an area of approximately 4-6 km with amenities that make the pool fun and welcoming for families and people of all ages and abilities
  • In spring 2024, Council directed the Public Service to engage residents on future aquatics in St. Boniface as part of the multi-year budget
  • In summer 2024, the City began planning a future aquatic park in St. Boniface
  • The project will engage residents to ensure a future aquatic park meets the needs of the community
