Name that Plow!

We need your help naming our snow clearing equipment.

We’re looking for names for:

• Six loaders
• Six grading machines
• A team of walk-behind push-plows

The loaders and graders are part of a hardworking group of heavy equipment that keep people moving on our streets every winter.

We're looking for kids (or kids at heart) to submit individual names. We'll pick our Top 30 and get Winnipeggers to vote on the 12 best.

The walk-behind plows are relatively new to Winnipeg and keep sidewalks and pathways clean and safe for pedestrians and cyclists. We're looking for creative classrooms to submit their best team name for this group of human-powered plows.

Here are the important details:

• Winnipeggers can submit entries from November 20 to December 5.
  • We’ll review all entries and pick our favourites.
• On December 8, we’ll post up to 30 submissions from each category for all of Winnipeg to vote on.
• Voting will be open December 8-31, 2025.
• We’ll notify the winners on January 7, 2026.

The 12 individual winners will be invited to a special announcement on or around January 13, 2025. We’ll have custom name plates printed for each of them as a keepsake of their win.

The winning classroom entry will get a pizza party at City Hall with Mayor Scott Gillingham.
