2022 Enhanced Summer Bike Route Program

The 2022 Enhanced Summer Bike Route program was approved by City Council on April 28, 2022.

The program was designed based on a combination of public feedback and traffic/cycling data and counts.

It includes a speed reduction to 30 km/h on 15 routes in effect from May to November, as well as a series of site-specific traffic calming measures to be in place through July and August and on weekends in May, June, September and October.

The speed limit reduction will be put into place first, over the first three weeks of May on the following streets:

  • Lyndale Drive – Cromwell Street to Gauvin Street
  • Wellington Crescent – Academy Road to Academy Road/Maryland Street
  • Wolseley Avenue between Raglan Road and Maryland Street
  • Churchill Drive between Hay Street and Jubilee Avenue
  • Egerton Road between Bank Avenue and Morier Avenue
  • Kildonan Drive between Helmsdale Avenue and Irving Place
  • Kilkenny Drive between Burgess Avenue and Kings Drive / Kings Drive between Kilkenny Drive and Patricia Avenue
  • Alexander Avenue between Arlington Street and Princess Street
  • Ravelston Avenue between Wayoata Street and Plessis Road
  • Linwood Street between Portage Avenue and Silver Avenue
  • Harbison Avenue West between Henderson Highway and eastern terminus
  • Youville Street between Eugenie Street and Haig Avenue
  • Rover Avenue between Hallet Street and Stephens Street
  • Scotia Street – Armstrong Avenue to Anderson Avenue
  • Ruby Street from Wolseley Avenue to Portage Avenue / Banning Street from Portage Avenue to Notre Dame Avenue

This speed reduction will be in place 24/7 from the time signs are installed through October 31, 2022.

The “weekend/summer” restrictions will be added to the routes following the City’s spring clean-up operations.
