Phase 1 public engagement begins

Take the survey or share your ideas on how Winnipeg can improve garbage and recycling by November 30, 2023.

Tell us what you think about garbage and recycling services. We want to understand what is working well, and what may require improvement. Input will help the City draft CIWMS updates. Draft updates will be shared for feedback in Phase 2 public engagement.

The City is also meeting and conducting interviews with community groups, environmental organizations, policy makers, producer responsibility organizations, and demolition and construction organizations.

Throughout Phase 1 and Phase 2, four seasonal waste audits will be conducted. This will help us understand the composition of waste for single-family dwellings (SFD); multi-family dwellings (MFD); institutional, commercial, and industrial (IC&I) sector; construction, renovation, and demolition (CR&D) sector; and abandoned bulky waste sectors. Waste audits will help inform updates to the strategy.
