Designing a permanent bike lane

We are starting the next phase of safety improvements on Wellington Crescent. On March 26, 2026, City Council gave new direction for this project.

Council asked us to:

Lower the speed limit to 40 km/h on:

  • Wellington Crescent from Academy Road to River Avenue
  • River Avenue from Wellington Crescent to Nassau Street North
  • Stradbrook Avenue from Wellington Crescent to Nassau Street North

Create a permanent bike lane design for Wellington Crescent (Academy Road to Stradbrook Avenue). This work will:

  • Include public engagement and promotion
  • Be shared with Council in a final report
  • Be built in spring or summer 2027 if Council approves it

Explore a temporary alternate bike route off Wellington Crescent.

  • If a good route is found, we will add signs and safety measures
  • We will share information about it in spring 2026

Once a consultant is hired, we will prepare materials to gather your feedback. In early 2027, you will be able to review the plans and give input.

Sign up for project updates to be notified when engagement begins.
