Preparing to welcome you back in early 2027

Work to expand the St. James Civic Centre continues to progress, with construction nearing completion and work about to begin on exterior landscaping.

We are excited to welcome you back and show you what’s new.

We expect to complete construction by the end of this year. This fall, you will continue to see construction crews and fencing as concrete, parking lot, and other work is finished. Inside the building, we will be moving back into the space, and staff will begin training to work within the revamped facility.

The Civic Centre will reopen in early 2027, with regular aquatic programming and Leisure Guide activities.

The Ab McDonald Arena will reopen for their regular ice season on October 3, 2026. Access to the facility will continue to be from the east side doors until the full facility reopens to the public.

Information about winter swimming lessons will be available in the Winter 2027 Leisure Guide Swimming Brochure on Thursday, December 3, 2026. Registration will begin on Tuesday, December 15, 2026 at 8 a.m.
