Final Collection Day for the City of Winnipeg’s Residential Food Waste Collection Pilot Project

After two years of weekly collection, pilot households will have their final green cart collection the week of September 26-30, 2022. We thank all of you who participated in the pilot project, as well as all other Winnipegger’s who have shown interest in the project.

Pilot households are welcome to keep their green cart for personal use or for a private food waste collection service, such as Compost Winnipeg’s residential service once the pilot project has ended. Green carts may not be used for recycling, garbage or yard waste collection. Any green cart put out for collection by the City of Winnipeg after the pilot project has ended will not be collected.

Participant Survey

To help conclude this initiative, we want to learn about how pilot households’ garbage disposal and food waste habits may have changed during the course of the pilot project. All pilot households received a letter including a card with information on how to complete a short survey. All pilot households are invited to take the survey regardless of how often they used the green cart.
