The City of Winnipeg (City) is committed to reducing the amount of waste going into our landfills and doing its part to help fight climate change. One way to do this is by making recycling easier and more convenient for residents who live in apartments and condos. We’re developing a Recycling Strategy for Apartments and Condos that will recommend ways to keep more waste out of our landfill.

    On July 13, 2023, Council approved the Recycling Strategy for Apartments and Condos. The Strategy will make recycling easier and more convenient for residents who live in apartments and condos and keep more waste out of our landfill.

    The public engagement summary and appendices are now available and provide an overview of the feedback collected for the project.

    The Recycling Strategy for Apartments and Condos will be presented to the Standing Policy Committee on Water, Waste, and Environment on June 23, 2023. If you would like to appear as a delegation, please contact the City Clerk's Department by noon on June 22, 2023.

    Thank you to all who attended an open house or took the survey for the Recycling Strategy for Apartments and Condos. Public engagement opportunities were available from April 12, 2022 to May 8, 2022. Feedback is currently being considered and a summary of the engagement process will be posted online.

    Take the survey and join us at a virtual open house about the Winnipeg Recycling Strategy for Apartments and Condos. Provide input on what programs and services you currently use, what barriers and challenges you currently experience, and how you think the City could make recycling easier and more convenient. Through public engagement with residents and stakeholders, the City hopes to create a strategy to reduce barriers to participate in recycling programs for residents living in apartments and condominiums.
