We are starting to plan for the proposed Assiniboine South Recreation Campus.
In this first phase, we are looking at:
Current and future recreation needs in the area
How existing recreation spaces are being used in the area
Opportunities for existing community amenities to better meet community needs
In the next phases of the project, we will be:
Developing early ideas for the proposed regional recreation campus in Marj Edey Park, including its design and amenities
Gathering feedback from users and the broader community
Developing a high level cost to design and construct the facility
This summer, we are reaching out to stakeholder organizations (including volunteers, seniors groups, recreation and athletic groups, and others) We want to hear how they currently use Varsity View Sportsplex, Marj Edey Park, and other nearby recreation sites.
In early 2027, we will ask the public for feedback that will help shape the campus design and amenities.
By mid-2027, we will have a recommended design and cost estimate. We would require additional funding and Council approval before moving forward with a final design and construction.
